SCE Homeroom Information 

Every year, at our Curriculum night, usually the first Monday after the first full week of school, there will be sign-ups for Room Parent and Wednesday Folders.  There are many things our room parents coordinate.  Responsibilities are listed below.  For any other questions please contact volunteer@springcreekpta.org.

Wednesday Folders

The first priority as lead parents is to schedule a rotation of Wednesday folder volunteers. Create a sign-up genius and email those parents who signed up as a folder volunteer so they can sign up for dates.  "Wednesday Folders” is a school-parent communication system in which information is sent home each Wednesday for parents review and if needed, sign and return necessary documents.

Items in Wednesday folders include classroom newsletters, graded work, flyers, and PTA information. Today's Wednesday Folder will include emergency information that the school will need from each child. 

 

REACHING OUT TO YOUR CLASSROOM PARENTS

Typically, lead room parents send class communication or any sign-up geniuses to the teacher so they can distribute to classroom parents. 

 

CLASS PARTIES

There are 3 class parties a year to manage including Winter (Friday, 12/18), Valentine’s Day (Friday, 2/12) and End of Year parties (Friday, 5/28).

 

TEACHER & STAFF GIFTS

It is up to you as lead room parents to determine how you want to handle teacher gifts. You can go in as a class for a Holiday gift or End of Year gift for your teacher or allow everyone to do their own gifts.

MULTICULTURAL NIGHT

Each class will participate in multi-cultural night. The Multi-Cultural night event chair will reach out to room parents on their needs/requests.  The date for this event is in March.

 

SPRING FUNDRAISER AUCTION PARTIES

As a class or grade, you will host/fund a party open to the whole school and families will volunteer to host/pay for the party. You determine the date/time, location, theme, who can attend, and number of attendees. There can be as many host families as needed to spread out the work and cost. Tickets will be sold as a part of the online auction to raise money for the school. Additional information will be provided to room parents closer to the event.

 

TEACHER APPRECIATION

The Teacher/Staff Appreciation Chairs will contact you so that you can contact your classes for special things they would like done during Teacher Appreciation week (first week in May) or any other staff appreciation days (counselor, librarian, etc).

 

STAAR SNACKS

Grades 3-6 have STAAR testing in April and May. You will set up a sign-up genius for snacks. Teachers usually want healthy, simple snacks. Dates will be sent out close to testing.

 

YEARBOOK PICTURES

Please have your class send any pictures of class events or outings to sceyearbookpictures@gmail.com. We want to make sure we have as many pictures as possible for the yearbook!

 

REACH OUT TO YOUR TEACHER

Lastly, contact your teacher and let her know who your lead parent is (if you decide to have one) and that you all are available to her. She may have needs that are particular to your child's class that you all can help with.

Please note that the PTA does not reimburse for any lead parent expenses so any money you put in is donated so spread out your spending opportunities to the entire class.
