VOLUNTEERING
Question: How do I become a volunteer?
Answer: First thing you need to do is full out the Volunteer Application with the district. Click here for for the application.
Question: Why do I have to have a background check to volunteer with or at the school?
Answer: Background checks are in place for the safety and security of all students. RISD is committed to verifying the identity and background of all visitors that enter the school.

Question: What if I work and can't volunteer during school hours?
Answer: No problem! There are plenty of ways you can volunteer that don't involve being at school during the day like assisting Hospitality Committee at evening PTA events or helping tabulate orders for Fundraising...or helping to proof the Yearbook....and even asking your child's teacher for a take-home project to help them out.
Question: I'm not interested in any of the categories shown here.
Answer: No problem, just email me and let me know what you are interested in doing and I will find something for you!
Question: I want to chaperone my child's field trip...what do I do?
Answer: Let your child's teacher know and they'll sign you up.
Question: I can't really donate my time because I'm really busy...anything else I can do?
Answer: Yes! We always need other kinds of donations like specific items your teacher might request...or props for a school play...or an Online Auction donation for Spring Fundraiser.
Question: Why should I volunteer?
Answer: Spring Creek couldn't offer many of our events without the support of our amazing parents. Volunteering is like 'sweat equity' and the district notices all the hours our parents put in supporting our school. Help us always hold our Platinum status with the district.
Question: What counts as volunteering hours?
Answer: The rule of thumb is "If it benefits the school, it counts!" Even eating lunch or a parent-teacher conference counts as volunteer hours. Click here and look under 'Why Log Hours' for ideas. Also, check out this list from the RISD Council of PTAs with even more ideas by clicking here. Still not sure? Email volunteer@springcreekpta.org with any questions.
Question: What is a Room Parent?
Answer: During Curriculum Night, all the teachers will have sign up sheets recruiting parents to sign up for Room Parents. This year we will have one LEAD Room Parent and 2-6 assistants who will be in charge of jobs ranging from coordinating holiday parties, handling communications, organizing testing snacks, organizing Class Parties for the Spring Auction and coordinating Multicultural Night for each class. We would love your help! Please email volunteer@springcreekpta.org if you would like to be added to your class list for room moms. Click HERE for more details and responsibilities for Room Parents.
