A Letter from Mrs. Erickson's Desk
Dear SCE Families, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday break! We certainly enjoyed our week of school prior to the break. Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered and helped with the Turkey Trot and Pie Baking Contest. All of the pies were so delicious, and the judges had a wonderful time trying to determine their favorite one. Every pie entered was a winner in my book! These next few weeks before Winter Break will move quickly. Thank you for staying the course and supporting all of our efforts to make school a fun, challenging, and engaging experience for your children. We are very thankful for you. - Students in 5th & 6th grades will take their Middle of the Year Assessments in Science this week.
- 4th grade visits the ESC Monday, and 5th grade visits RHS on Friday for a concert.
During school days in December, we have fun Holiday Trivia over the announcements each day. The winning class gets to come down to the office and choose a class gift. The gifts are actually just class snacks, but since they are wrapped like presents you can only imagine the excitement. Last year we gave away 1 class gift per day. This year, I would love to give away 2 gifts per day. We have 3 weeks in December, so we could use some donations to help with the cost. If you would like to donate a class snack, please make sure there are at least 24 servings and send it wrapped in holiday paper. Thank you!
Tis the Season of Holiday Giving! - FOOD: We are collecting nonperishable food items for holiday meals now through December 5th. Please consider donating boxed dinners, soups, and peanut butter. See below for a signup genius to donate frozen turkeys. The Boy & Girl Scouts are holding their annual fresh food drive this Wednesday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. The scouts will be organizing the donations at their meeting that evening in the cafeteria.
- PET ITEMS: Petter Place, better known as Maggie, Ellie, and Lucy, organized a donation drive to support the animals at East Lake Pet Orphanage. Donations are being collected in each classroom this week only!
- TOY DRIVE: Our neighboring RHS Feeder School, Dobie Primary, has over 500 primary age students. Over 80% of these students are economically disadvantaged, and I would love for us to support their Toy Drive. We will ask teachers to collect the toys in their classrooms over the next couple of weeks until we are ready to deliver them to Dobie. If you would like to participate, please send a new, unwrapped gift for a boy or a girl appropriate for the ages 5 or 6.
You may have noticed our new Little Library in front of the school. Drew Hamlin, former Spring Creek student, completed this Little Library for his Eagle Scout Project. He did a wonderful job, and we are very proud of him. Books inside the library are for anyone to borrow and read. Feel free to add to the library and help spread the joy and power of sharing books. He placed several of his own books in there to get us started. Thank You, Sharon Erickson Principal |

Make Your Hours Count
If you volunteer at the school, you can sign-in and sign-out on the volunteer log located in the front office. If you volunteer off-campus, record your volunteer hours in one of three ways: - Stop by the school and record your hours in the front office
- Click on the link below to log your volunteer hours
- E-mail your hours to the Volunteer Coordinator, Courtney Jones, at volunteer@springcreekpta.org
Curious what counts at volunteers’ hours? If it is something you are doing at OR for the school it counts! Meetings, phone calls, cutting items for teachers, making copies, any home hours, etc do count too! Still not sure? Email volunteer@springcreekpta.org with any questions.

| | YearbookSubmitting PicturesWe need pictures from all school activities and grade levels for the yearbook for this year. And we are making it super easy… Email pictures with a caption noting event/grade to sceyearbookpictures@gmail.com. Everyone wants to see their picture in the yearbook, so send them in throughout the year to be included.
PurchasingPre-order your 2018-2019 Yearbook here. We recommend one PER CHILD. Yearbooks are distributed at the end of the year, where they can be signed by classmates. We encourage you to purchase yearbooks at this time as they CANNOT be purchased at the end of the year.
